Electra Cables has announced a major sustainability milestone with its formal endorsement and product registration under the Vinyl Council of Australia’s Best Environmental Practice PVC (BEP PVC) V2.0 program.
This recognition places Electra among a select group of Australian manufacturers whose PVC products meet stringent environmental and social responsibility criteria across their full lifecycle.
The endorsement follows Electra’s successful renewal of its Green Star Certification, achieved through Compliance Pathway 2, a rigorous assessment process under the Green Building Council of Australia’s (GBCA) Responsible Products Framework.
The certification audit was independently conducted by Bureau Veritas Australia, a JAS-ANZ accredited body, ensuring robust verification of Electra’s environmental practices.
Strengthening Environmental Accountability
By registering its products on the VCA’s BEP PVC V2.0 Product Register, Electra Cables demonstrates compliance with advanced criteria covering:
- Responsible raw material sourcing
- Manufacturing emissions and energy efficiency
- Product durability and recyclability
- Ethical supply chain management
This alignment not only validates Electra’s environmental performance but also provides architects, builders, and specifiers with confidence that Electra’s PVC cable products meet Australia’s highest sustainability benchmarks.
Verified products are now eligible to display the Best Environmental Practice PVC Licence Mark, signalling their compliance to procurement teams and sustainability assessors.
Complementing Green Star Certification
Electra’s VCA endorsement directly complements its renewed Green Star Certification, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable cable manufacturing.
Under Pathway 2, Electra underwent a comprehensive review of its environmental management systems, product stewardship initiatives, and lifecycle impacts, further validating its commitment to continuous improvement.
The company also earned additional credit for its compliance with the Modern Slavery Act, reflecting its dedication to ethical operations and transparent supply chain governance.
Electra has publicly affirmed its commitment to partnering only with suppliers who uphold human rights and fair labour practices.
A Milestone for the Australian Cable Industry
With over 40 years of manufacturing history, Electra Cables continues to position itself at the forefront of environmentally responsible cable production.
Its full range of products are already Green Star certified, and the new VCA endorsement further strengthens its reputation as a sustainability-focused market leader.
Electra Cables states that it remains committed to corporate social responsibility, environmental protection, and workplace safety values that guide its operations and engage its workforce.
